Welcome to the Neighborhood: Bklyn Larder

Hitting up Bklyn Larder, the new super slammin’ Prospect Heights specialty foods store from the Franny’s folks, has been on our to-do list since it opened last month. Considering it’s just a 10-minute bike ride from our hood, it’s a little sad that it took us so long to get over there. But boooooy, was it worth the wait! The ultra-clean, white-tiled space is chock-full of foodie fare from packaged imports and prepared dishes to drool-inducing meats and a cheese case to die for. The prices are not for the faint of heart (or the unemployed) but you get what you pay for and it’s all ridiculously delicious (I’m sure mistakes can be made but luckily we avoided them).

For take home goodies we splurged on olive oil bottled to order and a jar of homemade almond butter. Of course we couldn’t leave without testing the prepared fare (mustard-seedy potato salad…yum) and the heavenly cheese selection (cow’s milk comte…real yum).
I’ll be the first to admit (this is Lisa talking) that I went right back the very next day (embarrassing!) to get my hands (and mouth?) on a couple of their made in-house sandwiches: salami + provolone and beet + ricotta (see where our market week inspiration came from?) = best Prospect Park picnic ever. And I’ve been craving those sammies somethin’ fierce ever since.
In other words, if you’re ANYWHERE near Brooklyn, you should totally check Bklyn Larder out for yourselves.
